The 100-member United States Senate consists of two members from each state. U.S. Senators are elected to serve six-year terms with one-third of the body standing for election every two years (U.S. Constitution, Art. 1, sec. 3). Maryland's U.S. Senators represent Maryland in the 114th Congress, which convened on January 6, 2015.

From 1789 to 1913, U.S. Senators from Maryland were chosen by the General Assembly. Since 1913, they have been elected by the voters of Maryland (U.S. Constitution, Amendment 17).
