The Task Force to Study Maternal Mental Health was authorized in June 2015 (Chapter 6, Acts of 2015).
For maternal mental health disorders that may occur during pregnancy and after childbirth, the Task Force is to research and make recommendations for legislation, policy, funding, and budgetary priorities. First, the Task Force is to identify risk factors for such disorders, and the most vulnerable populations. Further, effective prevention screening and treatment strategies for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders will be identified by the Task Force, and successful postpartum mental health initiatives in other states will be considered. Finally, the Task Force is to recommend evidence-based practices for health care providers and public health systems; and private and public funding options.
Authorization for the Task Force ends December 31, 2016.
