Past director, Baltimore Economic Development Corporation. Married; three children, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Died in Baltimore, Maryland, March 22, 2008.

The Charles L. Benton, Jr., Building at 417 East Fayette St., Baltimore, was named in honor of Mr. Benton.
